My Story

Jonathan Garrett Green, J.D. (he/him), serves as Chief Strategy Officer & Lead Mediator at the American Humanity Mediation Service. He serves in the role as Membership Advancement Facilitator, with the National Association For Community Mediation (NAFCM).   Also, he serves as part-time Faculty in Criminal Justice for the Columbia Southern University. Jonathan earned his Juris Doctorate (Southern University Law Center ‘16). Also, he obtained a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (Troy University ‘12) and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (University of South Alabama ‘09). Jonathan has been a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., since 2005.

 

Previously,  he served as Project Manager for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Alabama State Office.  His experience includes the role as Lead Community Mediator for the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division on Civil Rights (DCR). Here, he authored and designed a national pilot-model, statewide initiative titled the “NJ Community Peacemaker Collaborative,” which affects over 9.2 million NJ residents. He received the NJ Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Community Outreach (2022-2023) for the work he lead with DCR. The diversity of his experiences include social justice, mediation, social services, education, and project management.

Jonathan has various certifications in professional & community mediation, project management, digital marketing & e-commerce, and is trained as a U.S. DoJ Community Relations Service - Dialogues on Race Facilitator. Jonathan's career has engaged in crisis response management, de-escalation, and conflict resolution since 2010. He completed mediation training in 2015, from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.  He has also been certified by the Florida Supreme Court in Circuit Civil Mediation.  He has served as guest speaker for various events, for his national expertise in humanity mediation to resolve disputes in polarized communities, to include the ABA Dispute Resolution 2023 Spring Conference and guest speaker with the Divided Community Project at The Ohio State University - Moritz College of Law.  Currently, Jonathan holds membership in the National Association of Certified Mediators.

The American Humanity Mediation Service, which Jonathan serves as Chief Strategy Officer, is a Program Member of the National Association For Community Mediation.
